Getting Organized with UHU

For the second month in a row I was lucky enough to be able to participate in the UHU Sample of the Month. Each month UHU Glue has a sample that is sent out to the lucky readers of their blog. Here are the details.

So this month I received a Clipboard from Saunders and the UHU glue roller:

It's a nice bright yellow so I don't lose it on my workspace. Don't laugh, how many times have you picked up your tape runner and put it down unable to find it until 2 days later, lol.

I've altered lots of clipboards over the time and I really wanted to do something special with this one. So it sat on my workspace for a few days while I gave it some thought. Until one typical morning of getting my 7 year old ready for school. The poor guy, some days I think it's lucky his head is attached cause he surely would forget it! Organization is just not his forte'. Everyday he has a "special" at school, it could be music, art, gym etc. But in any case how we dress usually matches the day. Gym days - DON'T forget to wear sneakers and socks! Art days wear an older shirt so when he gets "stuff" on it I won't cry. So you get the picture, mornings can definatly be a circus around here. And this doesn't even take into account getting the 4 yr old ready. Oh wait and was I supposed to wear real clothes? LOL! I digress but you get the crazy picture.

So here is what I ended up with:

 

I used the paper from DCWV Grade School Stack. Since I eagerly glued my base paper to the clipboard before I put the days of the week on it I had to come up with another way to accomplish what I wanted. So I printed on acetate and trimmed it to fit the board. The tags were made using SU tag punch and mounted on velcro in case the school ever changes when or what the specials are for that day. The tags a re mounted on top of the acetate. While his name is mounted under the acetate, as is the School Days & things to remember sayings. (Sayings from Karen Foster) Then I brought my project, that I was so proud of to him and guess what he said?! My son wanted me to add some ribbon,  him he asked if I couldn't "spruce it up a little" Oh, I do love him there's a bit of me in him after all - (wiping my weeping eyes) What he really wanted was some flash, some BLING! Although you can't see it this whole collections of papers have glitter on them. After I brought it back to him with ribbons everywhere he loved it, see?

And yes, if you're wondering that really IS the color of my dining room walls - orange. So after I took this picture I realized just how colorful it was. Between my walls, his shirt and the clipboard - WHEW! But, anyhow he did love it and he actually remembers to look at it every day! So bug {{{HUGS}}} and kisses to UHU. You may have saved my life and possibly his on any given morning, lol.

I made the clipboard to either hang or sit on a shelf.

• So far I have had a chance to use the UHU Twist & Glue and the UHU Gluer Roller. While I have loved components of both. My current vote for favorite is the Twist & Glue. It seems to be a combination of glue and Diamond Glaze (A.K.A. Glossy Accents, Liquid Glass) So it's great for adhering embellishments but also for use with glitters and items where you need the adhesive to dry completely clear. I haven't found anything that it hasn't worked on yet.

Altered Money & UHU

Don't you wish we could just alter money? Turn a $1 bill into $100? I somehow think that may be slightly illegal. However we can alter how we carry our money. So I thought, why not bling it up a little?!

I have to be honest I'm not much for purses, seems as though the bigger they are the more we find to carry. So I like small wallets. Which is how all this led to UHU, read on................

I was lucky enough to get to participate in this month's September Sample-of-the-month at UHU. For September UHU sent out a UHU Twist & Glue sample and a Saunders Aluminum accessory box. My job was to see what I could come up with these two products, especially the Twist & Glue. Here's what I did:

This is the outside of my tin, standing up.

First I painted my tin with red acrylic paint. To adhere the paper (Kaiser Crafts) I brushed the UHU glue directly onto the tin. It worked great! It allowed me enough time to place the paper correctly and then dried quite quickly. Which is good for those like me, impatient! After I had my two pieces of paper on the tin I also brushed another layer over the paper for extra protection. I couldn't believe how smoothly it went on and left no streaks, nor did it make the paper bubble. I also used the UHU to adhere the metal embellishment (Kaiser Crafts) and the ribbon.

Now for the inside:

I created my own blinged up one-of-a-kind wallet. The right side has a money band that is glued to the sides of the tin and is slightly raised above the paper so I can slide lots of cash under it, LOL (My whole big $2 and I had to steal it from my son's piggy!)

And the left side I sewed small pockets to hold debit or credit or any kind of cards. Since I never seem to have cash on hand I needed a place to put my debit cards. Then for when there is no cash (most likely) I made sure that I still liked what the inside looked like by adding some all important bling!

By adding some stickles in a variety of color I made sure that even when empty it was still purtty. And now you can also see how I stitched the small card holder pockets into place.  I adhered both sides with paper the same way as the front. UHU brushed on underneath and then another protective coating on the top.

So let's talk about the UHU Twist & Glue. I am just amazed at it's versatility!

1. First it is an easy open container. How many times do we fight with opening glue? Well I do!
2. It brushed on without leaving streaks and dries completely clear!
3. Now catch this, After painting the tin red I noticed that the more I open and shut the tin the paint was wearing in certain places. So I wondered if the UHU might protect that also like it did the paper. So I mixed some acrylic paint and some UHU glue and painted the exposed areas. BOOM! It totally worked! So now the paint isn't flaking off.
4. It is strong and can be used on paper, wood, felt, cardboard, fabric and felt.
5. Can be used to glue these materials to metals, ceramics, glass, polystyrene, foam & many plastics
6. Washable with soap & water
7. Acid free formula isﾠ solvent free & non-toxic
8. Not damaged by freezing
